HairBow Holders & A BIG Announcement!

My NEWEST DIY Creation. I’ve been obsessed excited about making these hair bow holders for a while now. This is hand painted and made by me…well, except for the ribbon, and the wood and the letters. But other than that, I did it all.

It’s pretty simple now that I have the technique down.

*The wood can be purchased at any craft store. There are tons of shapes – Circle, Oval, Square, Rectangle and this one above which I called vintagey (I’m sure it has a name, I just don’t know what it is)
*Paint on your design in desired colors. I use Acrylic Paints. Let it dry thoroughly!! Very Important.
*Add your name. This one I cheated and used Vinyl that I cut with my Cricut. I also have made stencils with my Cricut and painted on letters for the other ones I’ve been making. Anyhoo!
*Attach your ribbons with hot glue and voila! You’re done.
(I also use an Acrylic Gloss Sealer to seal and shine up the paint.)
Questions about the process: Just comment or email me.

NOW – MY Announcement. I opened up my own Etsy shop! If I counted the times someone has told me to sell my creations, I’d be a millionaire. I finally have the time now that school is out, and the encouragement from my handsome hubby, to do something for ME. This is all for fun and I’m thrilled.

Introducing:

And Shocker…I’m selling these Hair Bow Holders in my shop. I’ll be adding to the shop later this week with some additional Creations so stay tuned!

I LOVE DIY projects so I have no problems sharing how I make these for the people that want to try to make their own. I discovered many people feel that they need to keep their process a secret so no one can re-create their project and just buy from them instead.
Well….I don’t really like secrets and I never would have been inspired to make one if I hadn’t found tips and tricks from others who have had success. So it’s my duty as a DIY’er and blogger to inspire others as I’ve been inspired.

But, for the people who aren’t interested in buying the supplies and making one, you can buy a personalized custom one instead. Easy Peasy! :)

  1. Congrats girl!!
    That is awesome!

  2. How awesome! I especially love your approach to the whole “secrecy” thing. While I don’t think it would be right to rip off someone’s work and profit off it, I think it’s great when we can encourage each other and let our ideas flow freely. I heard it somewhere and it stuck with me, that if I have one idea and you have one idea and we keep them to ourselves then we each have one idea. But if we SHARE our ideas with each other then we’ve both got two ideas. And that seems way better to me :)

  3. Awesome! I added you to my Etsy favorites! Do you think you will have something for our Little Men?

  4. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! I am SO excited for you!!! I will be buying one from you for a baby shower gift, but need to get more info first. You are awesome!! Keep up the good work, my friend! :)

  23. YAY! I have been searching for some fun ideas on how to make homemade hair ties. I have two little girls who I think would really love making this into a kid friendly project. I blog at: http://forevertogetherfamily.blogspot.com/ about celebrating the every day moments of life together. I recently came across your blog and wanted to say how much I appreciate you sharing your parenting insights, as well as your thoughts on life, project ideas, etc..and for putting it together in an easy to read, approachable, and entertaining style.

Thank you!! Can’t wait to “try” to create these for and with my girls!

    Take care!

    Emily
