Glitter Pumpkin Party & Book Drive

As everyone knows, I may be slightly obsessed with Glitter pumpkins. This year, I had so many friends asking me if we could make Glitter pumpkins, I decided to make a party out of it, with a twist.

For my Fall Goals, I wanted to donate to a charity. Lately I have been feeling the need to give back and do more for my community. I also wanted to make sure I could include my kids which makes it a little harder. So I searched for ideas and searched and saw a post on Twitter about hosting a Book Drive as a part of the Champions for Kids Simple Service Projects – Nickelodeon’s Big Help Book Drive.

I did a little research and fell in love with the organization and their community projects are really great and “simple” so if you’re looking for a way to give back, check them out.

We chose the Sacramento Children’s Crisis Nursery to donate our books too.

The party was so fun! It was actually a two day party. I had it open-house style where people could come and go as they please. I supplied the glitter, glue, and workplace and they had to bring books to donate and a pumpkin to glitter! Everyone got a cupcake, a candy treat goodie bag, or a decorated fruit cup for coming and donating to the cause.

I had about 13 different friends over and it was a great turn out.

I might be obsessed with glitter…

Book Drive donation basket. You give a book…you get a treat :)

Everyone LOVED the pumpkin fruit cups and what a great alternative to candy. And then…I had to make cupcakes, I mean…of course, right?

Here’s the little guys playing in the toy box

The little kiddies making their pumpkins and the big college kiddies making theirs :)

 Here’s some of the pumpkins!
We had some creative ones here! Some of themes:
A swirly, a color drippy glitter, an ombre, a black/orange SF giants, the disco ball, the black/silver raiders, the red/orange 49ers pumpkin.
It was a great couple of days. It was for a great cause and I was honored to be a part of Champion for Kids and Nickelodeon’s Big Help Book Drive! Here’s a Glitter Pumpkin Tutorial if you want to give it a shot!
