Marx Toy Museum

During the 1950s to1960s, Marx Co. ruled as master of the toy business, launching out oldies such as Em Robots, Rock ‘Em Sock and the first Big Wheel at its plants in Erie & Girard, Pa and Glen Dale, W.Va. Today its history is memorialized at Marx Toy Museum Center, which features one of the biggest exhibits of Marx toys in America. Playsets, action figures, and figurines are some of the jewels from seniors’ toy boxes on show. The museum also features a prototype room and a western room loaded with one of a type toys never distributed in stores.

But the museum is not just for seniors. Children often depart the museum as thrilled as adults. After visiting the museum, which generally takes at least half an hour, guests can loosen up with refreshments and check out old Marx toy ads in the 1960s-themed soda-shop room, which also acts as a gift shop.

Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State Park has stunning beaches with soothing surf and a charming shore-front promenade that guests can leisurely walk on, but Erie has more to offer.
